Description of the research topic:
Even the early project management approaches highlighted the importance of the role of the project manager as well as his/her required competencies playing an inevitable role in achieving project success. The project management competencies, which are complex phenomenon – containing for example leadership styles and personal characteristics – have evolved considerably during the decades. Thus, this research topic has a twofold focus. The first is identifying those competency elements, which possibly increase the change of project success. The second is identifying a potential path which could help project managers to gain the required competency elements to manage their projects successfully.
Further requirements: Students should have a systematic approach towards problems, they should see and identify interrelationships among the different factors. They should also have an insight into project management profession.
