Description of the research topic:

With the variable effects of climatic changes, timely information about soil moisture is a crucial key for crop production as well as for environmental research. The recent surge in availability of remotely sensed data provides an opportunity for the development of novel methodologies through the combined application of Earth Observation, modeling and monitoring methods. The proposed research topic focuses on the monitoring, analysis and modeling of soil moisture content in small watersheds, with a balance of field-based survey and monitoring, laboratory analysis and computer-based work. The ideal candidate for the topic would have some related remote sensing, modeling and/or programming background, as well as field and laboratory experience.
