Description of the research topic:

Reproductive health and women’s health are crucial components of a healthy society. Estrogen receptor alpha (ERa) is a major player of hormonally controlled differentiation pathways both in breast and in endometrium.
Our group is focusing on better understanding of molecular mechanisms that drive gene expression programs. Gene expression regulation is crucial for differentiating and developing cells in a specific manner. Superenhancers (SEs) are clusters of enhancers covering long regulatory DNA regions and interacting with many different transcription and master regulators, co-activators, mediators and chromatin factors, as we. Superenhancers play an important role in cell identity and fate. Therefore, understanding their way of activation will lead to a better knowledge of their role in gene expression regulation. Our study aims to perform genomic characterization in different cell types of the estrogen driven superenhancers. For this, we are using molecular biology, genomic and bioinformatic methods. Our studies might have implications for clinical research through better understanding of transcription regulation of ERa driven pathways.
