Description of the research topic:

Short-lived and exotic molecular species will be generated by UV photolysis or in electrical discharges and will be characterized by matrix-isolation infrared and laser spectroscopic (jet-cooled laser induced fluorescence) methods. The identification of the novel species will be supported by high-level quantum chemical computations. The works also includes some instrumental developments, e.g. setting up a new cavity ringdown spectroscopic equipment and a MW discharge source to generate atom and radicals for matrix-isolation studies.
