Description of the research topic:
In addition to changes in anthropogenic emissions, changes in the meteorological conditions also play an important role in the long-term evolution of pollutant concentrations. Since the proportion of long-range atmospheric transport is very significant in the case of Hungary, this effect is not negligible in the case of measures aimed at improving air quality, and thus significantly influences the effectiveness of the measures. In addition to the wind speed and direction, the spatial distribution and amount of precipitation, as well as the quality of the forecast of the height of the planetary boundary layer significantly limit the accuracy of the prediction of the concentration fields. The aim of the research topic is to contribute to a more reliable assessment of the state of air quality by using emission inventories, measurement information and model calculations.
