Description of the research topic:
Identifying molecular changes in various tumors may lead to discovery of novel biomarkers or therapeutic targets. Based on a robust analytical screen of human tumors (https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/32733643/) of different origin we have been identifying tumor specific molecular changes that could be of scientific and therapeutic interest. In this project we will test these lipid or protein targets in an in vitro 3D spheroid microtumor invasion model. Goal is to understand whether these molecular components have a significant role in the survival, proliferation and invasion of the tumor or in the microenvironment. It will also be investigated whether and how these molecules could be pharmacologically targeted. An ideal candidate for this project have a hands on experience in cell culture, basic biochemical methods and is eager to carry out a mechanistic study.
