Description of the research topic:
In our recent project we will analyze 274 archaic whole genome sequences from Hun, Avar, Hungarian conquest age and 10th-12th century Hungarian samples. Our WGS sequences have mainly 2-6x average coverage thus besides the phylogenetic analyses (whole mitogenom typing, deep Y typing) it enables to perform various population genetic analyses (principal componens analysis (PCA), admixture, F statistics, qpAdm, etc). The aim of our project is to study the genetic composition of the Carpathian Basin from the 3rd to the 12th century. The PhD student will participate in the population genetic analyses and the establishment of the bioinformatic pipelines.
