Description of the research topic:
Medically refractory pain syndromes (failed back surgery syndrome, complex regional pain syndrome, angina, peripherial vascular disease related pain), movement disorders ( Parkinsons disease, tremors, dystonias) , epilepsy, autonomic disease ( bladder and bowel controll syndromes), neuropsychological disorders ( absessive compulsive disorders, depression, Tourette syndrome) are the most common clinical conditions, that can be neurosurgically treated by neuro-pacemakers The efficacy of neuro-pacemakers has been proved by controlled, and randomised studyes. In this topic we would like to focus on the evaluation of the pathomechanism, efficacy and safety of neuro-pacemakers in clinical practice.
Main topics to be investigated:
Biomarkers
Functional imaging
Intraoperative electrophysiology
Efficacy
