Description of the research topic:
The current greatest challenge of cinema is the way moving images become the raw material or “content” for digital media. Using moving images in a networked culture means that former theoretical conceptualizations of cinema have become obsolete. What are the ways for re-establishing the concept of the “moving images” in a post-photographic, post-narrative post-cinema? I am primarily interested in the new genres (videoblog, desktop film, video essay, video chat, etc.) emerging from the relationship between new media and moving images.
