Description of the research topic:
Capsaicin has been known and studied since the early 19th century and has been shown to play a role in the long-term stimulation of sensory neurons when applied topically. Furthermore, during its therapeutic use, it is exploited that the skin surfaces in contact with capsaicin develop hyperemia and local inflammation, which results in an analgesic effect if the product is used for a long time. Today, there are many such products on the shelves of pharmacies and drugstores in Hungary. Still, it is questionable with which applicability, and last but not least, with what active ingredient content the available semi-solid preparations are intended to improve the condition of the patients. Therefore, the research involves pharmaceutical technology examination and stability evaluation of capsaicin-containing preparations (e.g., cream, ointment, gel) available on the market.
