Description of the research topic:
The ischemic demyelinating disorder, also known as age-related white matter lesion of the brain is a common clinical phenomenon. Demyelinating diseases are characterized by the loss of the normal myelin development and integrity. Demyelination may attack axons in the central and peripheral nervous system and it creates a variety of neurological disorders and syndromes. Our goal is the investigation of various genetic polymorphisms in stroke, leukoaraiosis and multiple sclerosis, which have a multifactorial origins.
