Description of the research topic:
A new, chronic schizophrenia rat model was developed in our behavior-pharmacological laboratory, named as WISKET rats. The behavioral and electrophysiological studies revealed the translational utility of WISKET rats regarding schizophrenia. Our future proposals are to determine the morphological, receptorial and genetic alterations in WISKET rats by multiple in vitro tests, and further characterize the phenotypic alterations regarding their behavior and autonomic functions. Furthermore, our aims are to determine the predictive validity of the model by antipsychotic administration and to determine the efficacy of additive medications.
