Description of the research topic:
Within this field any subject proposal is welcome which plans to deal with the theories and methods of interpretation applied to ancient textual corpora with authority or holiness for a religious (or other) community. These textual corpora will typically include the Bible, Homer, Plato, or oracles, but the list may be extended. The interpretations or commentaries should be chosen from the Hellenistic and Late Antique period (ca. 3rd century BC to the 6th century AD) and, depending on the language skills of the candidate, may include Hellenistic Jewish, Patristic, Rabbinic, or pagan sources. A proposal with a comparative objective will be preferred.
Recommended language skills (in Hungarian): German, French, Italian Further requirements: Language knowledge: The candidate is expected to read and write in English on an advanced level. The knowledge of Greek, Latin or Hebrew (Aramaic) is a requirement, depending on the language of the sources chosen.
