Description of the research topic:
The aim of this research is the phytochemical and pharmacological investigation of plant species (Juncaceae, Euphorbiaceae, Asteraceae, Cyperaceae) occur in the Carpathian basin. Main secondary metabolites of these species are terpenoids and phenolic compounds. Isolation of these compounds are performed with the combination of different chromatographic methods. For the structure determination MS and NMR spectroscopic methods are applied. Our aims are the identification of compounds with antibacterial, antiproliferative and anti-inflammatory activities of the isolated compounds.
