Description of the research topic:
Using a combination of laboratory and field observations, classical microbiology, molecular fingerprinting, metagenomics and metatranscriptomics the type strain of hydrogenotrophic methanogens (Methanoculleus marisnigri). Based on this new molecular information a novel technology to improve the efficacy of biogas/biological methane production will be developed. Effects of various environmental factors will be studied in order to improve biological renewable energy production technologies.
