The Biomolecular Self-assembly “Momentum” research group ( http://bionano.ttk.hu/) is looking for a PhD student in chemistry, to conduct design, synthesis, and biophysical characterization of novel peptide scaffolds, based on our recent self-assembling constructs. An emerging signaling strategy for cells is to use nanostructures that could target specific cells to deliver a therapeutic cargo or materials functioning as bioactive scaffolds in the extracellular space. Cell-signaling materials that trigger the regeneration of tissues mimic the fibrillar components of natural extracellular matrices. Within the project we aim to use natural and non-natural scaffolds for use in biomedical applications, potentially for improving neuron-neuron interactions and spinal coord injury.
